Granny a Day #59, Crochet Pupils & Flowers!

First is Flowers!

My Crochet Student LW wanted to make flowers today, so together we followed a new flower pattern from the 100 flowers to knit and crochet book by Leslie Stanfield.
She made the lovely Maroon one and I made the red one.
However, the important thing here is that she read the pattern!  She also used the chart to help when she got stuck on the pattern reading, as one does sometimes.
Well done LW.

Unfortunately my other lady couldn't make it today, so I hope that I see her next Tuesday.

Now for GAD #59
I chose these lovely warming colours - the ball to the right of the picture is Peach and not white.

And made this Square for my GAD blanket

I loved the flowers so much that I made a few more

And some more after that!

With a few leaves too!

I don't know what I am going to do with them yet - I am sure they will come in handy one day soon.

Thanks for reading & I'll be back tomorrow for another
Crochet Update
from
Crochet Addict!

Granny A Day #58

I had such a busy day with "life" today that I am surprised that I got my GAD #58 made at all.

I have been busy with trying to get my house straight, pupils booked in for Crochet Classes & the like but I did manage #58 and here it is next to #57

But I was a little bit naugthy

Instead of using my Yarn Scraps today, I used wool from my new yarn stash, so not using up scraps at all which was the intention of GAD.
I love the colours
Olive Green
Sky Blue
Plum
& Sunny Yellow!!

Day #57 & Week 9 Begins!

Day 57 and Week 9 is here already!

You may have noticed from the GAD Gallery that I am now adding in squares, or pictures of, weekly rather than daily.
This is not because others are not keeping up to date with GAD,
but rather because some are having difficulties with uploading photo's on various Social Networking sites like Twitter.

Anyway, I firmly believe the the other squares are either there or in the making, so I will continue as founder of GAD 2012 to do my best to add what I can when I can not only from my own GAD but from others as and when pictures become available.

Due to a rather busy Sunday with allotment duties and Out Laws coming for dinner, I decided on a plain GAD square today

It's plain in as much as I didn't change colour but the colour did change within the wool itself!

Day #56 & WIP continues at last!

Granny A Day 56 is here with a Beige centre, Lilac surrounding that, an Orange penultimate row and a Maroon final row - row 4

I really love the totally RANDOM way

That all the squares are so different - had I actually sat there and thought about it e.g. done it in one go, then it would never have turned out so slap dash!

And finally I have carried on with a few motifs for the top I am making which is one of my works in progress.

I hope to make some more tonight.
Fingers crossed.

Day #55 Granny A Day is here already!

Yes, Day #55 of Granny A Day is  here already - where has the time gone?

February is nearly over and my Granny A Day blanket, which I am proud to say that I am keeping up to date with, is getting larger by the day.

I seem to have got a lot busier these last few weeks with classes and "life happenings", so I am afraid to say that apart from Crochet Classes, my personal Crochet WIP's have taken a little bit of a back burner recently.

I will get back on track & at least I am crocheting, even though on a much lesser scale, on a daily basis!

Granny A Day #54 PLUS a Students very hard work!

Hasn't she done well?

Not only has LW finished of her lovely "ruffles" scarf

But she completed her homework too, which was to practice making a round in Trebles, so that she go the hang of increasing

AND
She's also made a load more little squares for her blanket too!

I am so pleased with her work as she's only had a few lessons so far, but it's the practising that is making all the difference - so the say is true after all
"Practice makes Perfect"

And from me - here is Granny A Day 54
I haven't been crocheting these last few days as I went away on a mini break

So to have a class to teach first thing this morning was great!

Granny A Day 50 - 51- 52 & 53

This is Granny A Day 50

I was a little bit naughty today as I used my "normal" wool stash and not my odds & ends stash for today's GAD

And here is GAD 51, 52 & 53

Which I had to make in advance as I am on my hols this week!

Day 49 + Fantastic Bag made by a Student & more!!

The first picture is the "and more"
Yes, my Student JC has started on this wonderful star blanket to use up the yarns that she bought for the fantastic Ripple Blanket that she made and brought in to show me last week.
If you missed that then go back to last Saturday's post.

Now, again last Saturday in class, we started on the bag and this is it finished and lined.
All that was left to do was to join the handles

So after a couple of practice runs to make sure that the stitching looked ok

JC joined the handles one by one using a Double Crochet Stitch

That incorporated the handle at the same time.
Above is the picture of the inside

And below is the picture from the outside - how neat is that?

Now it has a real professional finish and we both love the way it's turned out.
All JC has to do now is to darn in the ends.

Those Bamboo handles are a perfect match for that Chunky Cream yarn

(please note the "essential" cup of coffee lurking to the top left of the picture)

And my crochet news from today is.......

.....taking a few scraps of wool from my ever grown wool / yarn stash

I made it into Granny A Day 49

And this was all that I had left over

So not a bad use of the quantities that I initially had to work with.

Well done JC I love that bag and can't wait to see it once the ribbon arrives.

Bunting Mania is back + Day 48

Yes Bunting Mania is back!

So many people asked me to write out the pattern for the Bunting, so you can find it on the FREE TUTORIALS page - just scroll right down to the end when you get there and you will find it!

These are some I made earlier

I had to sew some of my lovely new "hearts" & "flowers" buttons on to some wool
before I used it to Crochet the Bunting together

And here it is!

I love the colours

And you can see the buttons

Sorry about the blurry picture

The Buttons are looking good, no not good, GREAT

On either side of a bunting flag

And after all that here is GAD 48!

Day 47 - Buttons & Bags!

Buttons!
Yes Buttons!! Aren't they just FAB?
I ordered them from eBaY only yesterday

And they arrived today.
I was only going to get some flower ones to add to my current Bunting Project
But then I saw the hearts
and mine melted!!

Do you remember the bag I started last weekend?

Well the ribbon arrived earlier in the week - again from EbAy
(can you tell I don't like "shopping")

Isn't it lovely and shiny?

It really helps to "lift" the bag

and also from EbaY
arrived today too

Was the magnetic clasp

I had to unpick a little of the stitching on each side, put the clasp in place and then get my faithful old Singer Sewing Machine out again to repair the damage.
You wouldn't know it now though as I have made a very good job of it
even if I do say so myself!

Last but not least is GAD 47

Only one more square to go to "fill the gap"

I will have to CHEAT this weekend and make 3 extra squares as I will be away in Norfolk for Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday of next week and I am banned from Crochet when I am on holidays or mini breaks or vacations or long weekends away - basically if I am not residing at home I can't crochet - house rules!

Day #46 & Bunting

Do you remember that one of my Crochet Pupils made this heart for her Husband's Valentines Card yesterday?

Well I am very please to report:

"My hubby was VERY impressed with his ' heart' card, so thank you very much for your help/guidance with making the heart.
I really enjoyed today's class and already looking forward to next week ! "

Hooray!!

Now for GAD 46 and here it is

I wanted to use some cheerful colours today as the weather out there was so gloomy.

And finally I have started to Crochet some Granny Shell Bunting

Lots more to make!

I must sort out my WIP's as I still have the Black Edging Scarf and the Flower Motif Top in my
WIP stash to finish off, as well as the edging on my Giant Granny Square Blanket!!

Oh Dear
