Day #35 GAD & A Baby in My Baby Blanket!

This is GAD 35 - as you can see it's a spiral granny. I thought it would make a nice change

And here is Baby B in the Baby Blanket that I crocheted for her

And finally - I have made another set of 7 motif's for my WIP top. I didn't have a lot of time to spend on Crochet today, so that was pretty good going.  It'sn now started to snow here so it feels a little strange to be Crocheting "Summer" wear in this weather!

Granny A Day - Day 23 - Chinese New Year, so in honour of Chinese New Year, I made a RED square as in China they consider Red a colour that brings good luck

Baby Blanket News!

I have decided that the blanket is now big enough, so I have made an edging of trebles to finish it off.  However me being me, I wasn't totally happy with that, so I have now made a further edging
An Edging for Edging !!

Yes, as you can see I have added a scalloped edge to the original edge by making a SC, then 2 tr's then another SC and repeated this.

I am really REALLY pleased with how this is looking now - I only hope that I have enough white 4ply to finish of the 2nd edging - otherwise it will mean a trip to the WOOL SHOP - oh no - poor me - the torture one has to endure!
LOL

Finally I took a Crochet Class today and my pupil has now decided to start making a little Teddy Bear.  I am so pleased that she's so keen and that she's picking Crochet up so effortlessly.  The only downside to this of course is that she'll soon have learnt enough to be getting on with and won't come along for more lessons so often!
Oh well - that's life.
At least I have passed on a dying art, which she can then pass on to the next generation one day!

Day #14 - Crochet Day! YAY

I couldn't believe it today when I found that I had over 12,000 page views on this blog!
That's amazing so thank you to everyone that's had a look so far &
Feel FREE to pass on the link to all your friends!

Thank you also to my 63 followers - that's an achievement too.

Once again thanks to VISTAPRINT (I love Vistaprint - they are always so helpful)
I  now have a lovely bag which is ideal for a small project such as my WIP Baby Blanket

Look what I put on the front!

It's totally unique and I love it

Now for some sad news - Granny A Day #8 is now no longer

It was really bugging me - it was made from DK but it looked like the runt of the litter
and even though it had other squares around 3 sides, I decided that it had to go as it would always catch my eye & before long it would be too late to take action

So I cut it out!!

Then I made another Day #8 Granny A Day and joined it into place

I then made Granny A Day #14 and popped that onto the end

Now I know that I have 3 WIP's on the go at the moment

The Giant Granny Square.....

The Baby Blanket ....

& the Granny A Day project

But I decided that I needed a change, so I have decided to make over my lounge Draught Excluder

It actually looks ok as it is and it serves it's purpose well, but it does look a little boring

So I have made a start on a cover for it using 2 balls (at the same time) of DK (because it's more like 4 ply) and a 5mm hook.

As you can see, there is a colour mix of Brown, Black, Beige & White

And these colours will compliment my lounge perfectly.

I will let you know when it's finished.

You can still join in the Granny A Day 2012 project - it's not too late!

Day #11 - what a busy, busy day!

Ok, I am going to blog about the day as the day went along as there is SO much to tell you from a crochet point of view of course!

Firstly I have to go back to last night - my hubby told me that our friends baby is arriving very soon - 3 weeks in fact, so I ran upstairs to see if I had any baby wools (3 or 4ply) as I hadn't noticed any in my stash audit the other day.  Well I didn't have any, but then I had an idea that I forgot to count some wool in my guest bedroom wardrobe, so I went to look in there and guess what - I found some White, Baby Blue, Baby Green, Baby Yellow & Baby Pink all in 4ply. So once I got settled for the evening I made a start on a Baby Blanket and produced 12 rows:

It's making up very slowly due to the fineness of the wool

More good news from last night is that I got a text message to confirm a Group of 2 class for this coming Friday - both beginners and both excited to get started - I can't wait!

Now to this morning, 9.30am in fact - I know that I have a 10am class this morning so I get my room nice and neat - not that its ever not neat, but I make sure that its all tip top and that the kettle is full!  These little bits are important you know!  So, whilst I am waiting for my pupil to arrive I start to crochet in extra chunky wool and a 6.5mm hook - can you guess what I am doing yet?

Yes, I going to make another tutorial - well 2 actually!!

However I only had time to set up a few shots when the doorbell rang.  My 10am Lady was standing there with a huge grin on her face and chatting all the way up the stairs.  I knew that she wanted to learn joining colours in a Granny Square, so we went through the next 2 hours doing exactly that!

Here's one of the squares she made

Now I have to admit that I cheated a little here, because the square that I was working on as the tutorial of my class, is the square that I am submitting as Granny A Day no. 11

In addition to finishing the 2 hour lesson and completing the No. 11 Granny square, I also managed to make 2 tutorials today - both free to whoever needs them, but as always donations will be gratefully appreciated.

They are both called "The Basics" and they cover :  How to make a foundation chain, Double Crochet & Treble Crochet stitches.  The first Tutorial is for Right Handers and the Second - which I have put under a new TAB is for Left Handers.

More of my already completed Right Hand Tutorials will be converted to Left Hand versions as soon as I have some more time on my hands.

Oh and I nearly forgot, I have also learnt how to allow comments to be left on every page that is now available via the TABS so if  you want to leave a comment on a specific TAB subject then you can! (or at least I hope you can if it works!)

And to sum it all up - I was honoured by the Editor of Bloggers.com today who awarded me a "FEATURED BLOG" award on their site!  How cool is that!
