Weeks 48 to 51 - Christmas Special!

This my be my last blog before Christmas, so I will take this opportunity to wish you all a Happy Christmas & a GREAT New Year

Here's what's been happening in my crochet world over the last few weeks....

I had a stall at the Shillingstone Christmas Fayre on the 6th December

It was a gret day & there were even Alpaca's there with Reindeer ears & tinsel!

Here's some Rowan Tweed that I had to colour swatch for a client

And here's my yarn stash all neat - well as neat as it will ever be!

In Sherborne now for my last class of the year

They all bought a copy of my book!

I am lucky enough to walk my 2 dogs with views like this in the morning

This is me in my Pom Pom Hat which I love wearing

And this is my Christmas tree that is entirely decorated with Crochet Decorations

I volunteer for Age Concern & so I took the tree that I used for my stall at the fayre to the old lady I visit, to brighten up her living room as she doesn't bother with decorations

And here is my Triangle a Day Blanket which has 364 triangles on it.  I am now working on the border.

These are my mitts - they are in the latest issue of Lets Get Crafting Knitting & Crochet which is on sale tomorrow (Friday) so do get out to your newsagents & buy a copy.  I have another pattern in there too!

Week 18 - more "hookers" in the making!

This week has been a week of many new Beginners classes & a few regular ones too!


Learning the basics with a good old stitch marker or two to hand is a good start

Teaching more advanced students new skill is always a pleasure, even if it is something as simple as sewing eyes to an Aliens head

or sewing the stalk to the top of a cartoon mushroom!

In another class I taught Broomstick Lace Crochet

And in another 

Join as you Go

And in another we had a dab a beading which was excellent fun!

On Saturday I taught Bavarian Crochet to the Shaftesbury Ladies who frequent a most excellent shop called Sparrow UK

It was a full day from 10.30 to 4.30

& they mostly questioned why we needed to start off the workshop using Chunky Yarn & a 6.5mm hook....

However by lunchtime they all understood why!

It was a lovely day and they all enjoyed their "makes"

For some it was a "feather added to their crochet cap" for others it was the revival of their crochet skills as they hadn't hooked for years, however for all it was a continuation of their crochet journey as this skill will now never be lost to them.

And finally

This arrived in the post today - my very own Crochet Hook Bracelet!!

Such Talent! Crochet in Dorset Week 16

I can't tell you how lucky I am as a Crochet Teacher

to come across such talent in one County - Dorset!

Just look at the finish on this baby cardigan - toggle buttons & a fab colour mix!

Another pupil saw a pot cover I made last week (you can just see it top left of the photo) & she went away & made this...

After a lesson in Flower making last week - AR brought her own in this week, complete with a cover pot too

I love them!

And PG worked really hard at pattern reading & made these lovely flowers

I love the pansy

We talked "drape" over the last couple of lessons & V brought in her finished scarf & the start of a shawl

The next few photo's are taken in my Crochet Classroom at home....

Another lesson in following patterns

Which seems to be the "hook" in the side of many crochet -ers

It's a matter of reading what's there in front of you and reading it again and possibly again before it goes "bing"

And it worked as here we have 2 covered stones, ready for al fresco dining this Summer

I did a similar project at my Shaftesbury lessons, but this time with Jam Pot Covers

They were not allowed to compare notes or cheat!! It was very "exam like" for some moments as they all concentrated on the task in hand and the room went quiet!

And as you can see, progress was made and end result

And here are the Sparrow UK "hookers" with their subscription forms ready to be completed and sent to Inside Crochet Magazine.

In the latest issue, which is in the shops (Issue 53) not only has one of my patterns....

but also my "interview" which DMC creative world said....
