Lion has a Face Lift, GAD and WIP's

Lots to blog about today!!

First and foremost is the Lion I made yesterday.

I wasn't 100% happy with the puffy cheeks 

They look good in the photo but up front is a different matter! 

It just doesn't look right, so I thought that I would make the smaller, but that didn't help, so I took them off all together and got my needle and black wool out instead

I also gave his hair another layer, a longer layer added to his mane

And I think he looks perfect now!

Now for WIP No. 1

This is the homework that one of my pupils has set me

We have agreed to get to the first stage which is the lower body of the cardigan which has to measure 11 inches.  I am currently at just over 6 inches, so not far to go!

I am really pleased with how it's turning out

And this is what is should look like when it's finished.

Next is WIP No. 2

It's taking forever to join all the motif's together

So I set my self a target of finishing off the front today

And here it is - the front is all joined up!

I sure hope it does!

Finally GAD # 97 is this combination of peach, burgundy and grey

Granny A Day # 81 and more WIP

Granny A Day 81 is partly due to the fact that one of my pupils bought me a lovely ball of lime green wool today!

It's a shame that the photo does not do the colour justice as it really is a lovely lovely vibrant shade.

So I now have a 9 x 9 square blanket so far (81 squares)

I have completed 5 squares of the 12 so far

And if you look closely at the picture, you can just make out the motifs at the edge of the cardigan

Sorry it's not more visually clear, but as it's white on white it's very difficult to make out.

Anyway, that's how the finished cardigan is going to look

Cotton Crochet 376

Day #36 Granny A Day and Blocking Crochet

 This is Granny A Day 36.  I did say that I was going to use up scraps and here is the proof!  I started off in Green and got all of Row 1 done and 2 corners of Row 2, but then I had to change to White as Green ran out!!

It does look a bit lob sided but hey, by the time all 366 squares are joined together, no one will notice!!

All you can do is to block it

This is what I do - I get my cheap cork board and some pins and by eye, I pin it out, being careful not to catch the thread when the pin is inserted.

I then spray it with starch and leave the board on top of a radiator in the winter, or in the sun in the summer time to "bake"

And here's what you get......

A big difference eh?

I have put all my motifs into plastic folders as they come off the board.  I have probably done 3 or 4 of each one now.

Day #34 Granny A Day & Next Project

Yes this is my next project!

I don't normally crochet garments but the last top that I made

(This is it from yesterdays' post)

has me hooked!!

So I hot footed it to the wool shop this morning only to be told that I can't buy SIRDAR Luxury Cotton as they don't make it anymore so I bought 4 balls of Patons 100% Cotton 4ply instead - it cost me £22.20

I have made a start on the motifs

They are fun to make!  These are all 7 patterns and I have to make 16 to 18 of each one!

Here is GAD No. 34
