Day #67 Granny A Day + More W.I.P.

I was in a PINK mood today

So Granny A Day #67 had to have a PINK theme
and
I think it looks LOVELY!

Here is Pinky joined in with the other 66 Squares

I had a bit more time on my hands today

So I continued with my only WIP
Which is my Summer Lacey Top

376 cover

This really is a WIP

There are 7 motifs to make
and you have to make this amount of each one

1 = 11
2 = 16
3 = 17
4 = 17
5 = 18
6 = 18
7 = 26

So far I have made

1=11
2=13
3=9
4=8
5=8
6=8
7=9
So not many left to go and as Hubby is out tonight I might just finish a few more

In the picture above you can see No. 2 (top left), to the middle there is No.7 (the little stars) and
bottom left is No.4

Here are some of them being pinned out and left to "block" overnight

Day #66 & 2 Crochet Classes

I am going to start with GAD #66 today, as there are so many photo's to show you from my 2nd class today, so here it is!

I love the purple frame and the soft colours inside - don't you?

Pupil #1 had so many things to go through and she hadn't been to see me for a good few weeks + I was concentrating SO much that I forgot to take any photo's.

However we did cover the work that she wanted to do and I did sort out a few issues of pattern reading for her - a little more advanced than my "beginners" classes, but where can she go if I wasn't around??
(There are no other crochet teachers in this area you see)

On to Pupil #2

She emailed me in the week to say that she got stuck on her popcorn stitches and had to undo it several times, but I think that she just lacks confidence, not in herself, but in her Crochet Work, because this is what she brought in

I think that she's done a fantastic job of the Dahlia pattern made up of Popcorns

She also brought in this Flower.  We did start one in class together last week.  She made a 2nd one!!

It's so lovely isn't it?

And in today's lesson

We started to join her little squares

We started on the vertical joins

And when she gets home, she is going to continue with these and then go on to the horizontal joins.

I can't wait to see the finished blanket!

Day #65 - 15 minute wonder!!

Granny A Day Number 65 was completed.....

....in a total of 15 minutes - hence the 15 minute wonder in the title!

I turned off the TV, didn't answer the phone and even ignored the beeper on the oven when the warning beeps started (it's ok - dinner wasn't ruined)

As usual for this project, I did the Join As You Go method
and completed the whole thing in the said timescale.

It wasn't a race - I just decided to to time the "making of" from start to finish - complete with 4 colour changes.

I also have some WIP news!

I have completed some more motifs for the top project that I have on the go.

I have now completed all 11 of the main motif, that you can see to the left of the board

So now it's the smaller ones to finish, so not long now.

Starting week 10!

I love the colour combinations which were taken at random from my yarn stash basket

Granny A Day #63 - Chocolate Box

Granny A Day 63 deserved a little bit of TLC
Not because it is a special day
but because I haven't been able to dedicate as much time as I would have liked in recent days.

So out came my 200 Crochet Blocks Book
and because I didn't want to vary from a Granny Square too much
so I chose this design which is called
"Chocolate Box"

It's very similar to a plain granny, however you put a DC in to each chain space go give the effect that you see in the picture above.

Here are all 63 squares

I am loving the blanket so far!

Day #62 of Granny A Day + Students Crochet Rocks!

This is Granny A Day #62.
I love the way the Red Centre leaps out and the Yellow Edging cheers it all up!

 Now these lovely Granny Square were made by my Crochet Pupil LW
She had a crash course in Granny Squares and
Joining as you go in the last half hour hour her last lesson
After using the tutorial from this blog once she got home
she's managed to start off her blanket!

Not only that but she made this chick

She mentioned chickens in her last lesson

And I just happened to come across this pattern

Isn't that one CUTE chicken?

Today in class, LW decided that she wanted to learn to do some different stitches and she chose Popcorn.  She wants to make a bag for her Mum for Mothers Day, and whilst she's going to follow a pattern in a book, she's going to change it slightly and add some "Dahlia" Granny Squares into the design.

So amongst lots of chatter here's what she made - isn't it coming along just fine?

Below is my square

Which as you can see is "on the board"
having a good old blocking

Granny A Day #60 & #61 + WIP finished (well one of them anyway)

Granny A Day #60 fell on Leap Year
So I stitched "LY" on the square to mark the occasion

And due to having been away yesterday I had to catch up on both Leap Year's
and
The 1st March Granny A Day on my return

And now for news of my finished WIP

Yes, the scarf that I started some time ago in now complete

It's lovely and long

And can be wrapped around

And around

And around to keep you snug and warm

I love the colours too!

It will soon be featured on my For Sale Page
but if you would like to purchase it before then, please get in touch
