Merton Abbey Mills Craft Fair Today

I was up early and after a bit of breakfast my husband drove me to Merton Abbey Mills for 9am so that I could get my pitch.  I was initially allocated a 6 ft covered stall, but the Market Manager said that I could move to a more "productive" spot if none of the "regulars" turned up to claim them, however when he did come round to say I could move I was already set up.  However the 6ft space next to me was empty so he said that I could spread out, so that's what I did.

As you can see all my Crochet Creations are neatly arranged and I even got my blankets and shawls under cover due to the extra space I was given.

It was actually a REALLY quiet day, and by 3pm I had only sold a £4 flower brooch and a £11 (should have been £12 but she was a pound short so I let her off) Beanie hat.  So £15 sold and £10 for the pitch so I was £5 up!  Then the "sale of the day" came and a lovely chap came, took a look, went away again for half an hour and then came back and bought a £45 hat and scarf set for his wife! YAY.  I gave his daughter a £3 covered jar as a Christmas present, which I let her choose and her smile was thank you enough.

So all in all a long cold day, but it was an experience, I gave out a few leaflets on lessons and the other stall holders were all very kind and friendly.  We also had entertainment by a local Church "Gospel Choir" so I danced and sang along to keep warm.

I am home now and fed (chicken casserole cooked by hubby - how kind is that?) and about to continue crocheting my multi coloured scarf.

Will I do that again - yes - probably.

My 1st Craft Fair

Yes, today was the day and after a pretty sleepless night and with the help of the lovely Pam, we managed to unload the car, find the craft fair organiser & find out which "table" was ours.

So we set it up....

So not a FANTASTIC day but I did make a small profit and more importantly we promoted the Crochet Classes a lot, and got a few people interested, plus I may get a booking to host a Crochet Party for a group of 10, 10 year old girls!!

Craft Fair Mock Up

I thought I would do a mock up or dummy run of how my stall may look next week, so I have taken over the dining room and used a sheet as a cover - the only thing large enough I could find.

I realise that my table is probably deeper than the one I will get, but at least I have an idea of how thing may look once set up.

I also have a mirror on a stand that I will take with me so that people can see what the Hats and Scarves look like once on

I have priced everything up by way of little price banners on pins

And I have used old boxes at the back to create some height

Pink & Fluffy Jar Jackets

I got straight to work (yes, even on a Sunday) this morning and made some more, well about 3, multi coloured jar jackets.  Then I had one of those light bulb above my head moments and out came the pink wool.  However it was 4 ply, so I doubled it up and got going with my trusty hook......

I know that pink is a very popular at the moment and for that added "bling" I added some fluffy glitter white wool, that I had left over from a knitting project.

That's 3 so far - I will make about 3 more to add to my craft fair stock.

I decided to turn some of the chunky beanie hats into ear flap hats

I also made another pair of fingerless gloves in denim blue

"All items are HAND MADE using quality wools / yarns.

Another project finished

I have been making this blanket, on and off, for some time now and I know that there are previous posts referring to this blanket in these specific colours of Purple, White & Turquoise, so without further ado, here it is......

First and foremost I added one final row of 7 squares

And then placed a border all around

As you can see the border started with Purple "Granny" shells

Followed by a row of white "Granny" shells

Then Turquoise

& a final row of White half trebles to set the edge of in the lightest colour of the scheme.

This blanket with be available for sale for £60 via the Craft Fair that I will be attending on the 3rd December 2011, however if you are interested, I am prepared to let it go before then, so email me campbellmac44@gmail.com  if are interested.

Yes I have been crocheting away as I only have 20 days, yes 20 days until the Craft fair !!  P-A-N-I-C There doesn't seem like there are enough hours in the day sometimes, what with Crochet classes, dog walks, house cleaning, ironing and the likes it feels like I should be crocheting in my sleep!

Anyway here's more to add to the Crochet Craft Fair stock....

One of the "Posy" flowers of a scarf , so there are now two in Cream and one in Red

A "ruffles" scarf in a soft beige - This is crocheted in 100% Merino and it's a bugger to work with as it's so soft, so you need  (A) very soft hands so that you don't snag the wool and (B) the patience of a Saint as its so slippery and you have to keep on correcting your hold on the wool!

This is the scarf previously featured (so not made this weekend) but it's now being modeled for me by my new model "Pixie" who I picked up today from Woking in Surrey thanks to a very very kindly TWITTER friend who gave this to me today - swapped for a bag of veggies from my allotment (see previous post)

And last but not least is another beanie hat in "Denim" a chunky Acrylic / Wool blend that crocheted up a little on the large side but with my husband close to hand, who is kind enough to lend me his head for fittings every now and then, I managed to size it down a little to make sure it was a snug fit
