GAD 303

This is GAD 303
for Monday 29th October 2012

It's getting difficult to keep up with my iPhone on blogger so I have had to bring my main laptop, which is no easy task due to the cabling, downstairs for today to not only keep up with GAD but emails and suchlike too!

I have now ordered a new cable for my mini laptop, which is my downstairs computer and my saviour with Puppy to keep an eye on, which will hopefully arrive sometime this week.

In the meantime I do hope that you can persevere with my blogs until then.

GAD 301 and 302

I am still blogging from my iPhone due to puppy chewing my laptop cable. Hopefully normal service will be resumed shortly.

GAD 299 & 300

Due to scrumpy chewing my computer power cable this will have to make do for granny a day 299 & 300. Normal service will be resumed ASAP

Due to unforeseen circumstances today's GAD has been delayed somewhat!

GAD 298

This is a delving for colours of balls of wool from the "stash" basket

So that's GAD 298

GAD 296 & 297

It's been a busy few days here at Crochet Head Quarters!

I have been following a very badly written pattern for a tea cosy that took my fancy, so I ended up Googling "Granny Crochet Tea Cosy" to see if there was any help / another pattern available that I could use to resurrect my tea cosy starter, and I think that I am getting there.

Therefore yesterdays' GAD was a simple plain Red Square

But there is nothing to be apologetic about from my point of view as I love Red and it's GAD 296.

Then today I took a Beginners Crochet Lesson which went really well.  M was a talented starter and soon got into the swing of things, mastering the Foundation Chain, Slip stitch, DC, HTR & TR's.  I have given her some homework of working in rows so that she can practice her newly found skills.

So just enough time for GAD 297

Gad 294 & 295

Saturday is GAD 294

& Sunday is GAD 295

It's been a busy weekend with more Bavarian Crochet....

...eating up my wool stash!!

And to my joy and with utter pride, I would like to share this most wonderful photograph that I received via email today from a former pupil NR.

She's truly grasped the Ripples Blanket and I really love the colours she's used

Don't you?

All I can say is WOW and well done NR.

Granny a day 293 and more from a lesson today!

This is Granny A Day 293

As you can probably see, if you haven't already noticed, there is a little mistake on the centre - I was running out of wool, a piece that I had in the bottom of my basket.  So I had to make do with the scrap that I was working with and therefore one of the Granny Shells went down to 2 trebles instead of the traditional 3.  Never mind eh? The whole point of GAD is to make use of the scraps of wool that soon add up in ones basket, so there you have it! GAD 293

Even more fantastic is my pupil CF

She started me off on Bavarian Crochet by buying a book on "how to Crochet Bavarian Crochet" and lending it to me.  I in turn decided to give it a go and then taught CF how to do it!

And here is whats' she's made

Doesn't it look great?  She did  start this off in last weeks lesson and went a little wayward during the week, but by the end of today's lesson she's right back on track.

Even more wow from CF is this fantastic Ripples Blanket that she's made for a friend who's about to have her baby boy

It's just amazing and I am very proud of her achievements so far.

Granny a day 292

I fancied using these lovely Autumnal colours for today's granny square.
I continue to add to my Bavarian Crochet blanket and will post a photo soon.

Granny A Day 289 & 290

Granny A Day 289

&

Granny A Day 290

I have been adding these squares to make the blanket 17 x 18 squares, then I must take it up to one of my beds and measure it out to get a proper idea of the size!

I have been busy teaching today - a lovely lady called C who knows how to crochet but is having trouble with patterns and some other technical bits and bobs.  She told me that she really enjoyed her class and would be back for more!

Granny A Day 288

This is Granny a Day 288

And this is Granny A Day so far

It's now 18 squares by 16 squares

I had to jump up up on the sofa for extra height to capture, or try to capture the complete blanket, but without complete success unfortunately

Granny A Day 287

I managed to make this GAD whilst puppy sitting today

He's been a bit of a rebel so I did what I could when I had the chance.

I can't believe that there is less than 100 GAD's to go now and I can't wait to see the finished blanket.

Granny a day 286 and Bavarian Crochet Lesson

Today I took a crochet lesson with the lady that leant me the Bavarian Crochet book last week.

As I had taught myself to do this method of Crochet in the last week, it seemed silly not to teach her this week, so that's exactly what we did!

She also came to me with her Ripples Blanket that she has really made a good job of so far.

I spent very little time making some corrections for her, as she had gone wayward in a previous row and it had gone very slightly out of sync

And as you can see, I used my Bavarian Crochet piece as Granny A Day 286 for today's square.

Row 3 on Bavarian Crochet

Row 4

This is Rows 1 & 2

And Row 3 being added
You can see the lovely effect that adding a new colour every odd row gives.

GAD 285

I love the colours that I have used today.

I chose them with a certain amount of care & I am glad that I did because I think GAD 285 looks lovely

Granny A Day 283

This is GAD 283.
I am very lucky to have managed to start, let alone finish this square today, with all that's gone on
so i am grateful that I have managed GAD 283.

GAD 282

This rather lovely hue of white, lavender and blue is GAD 282

And here is my puppy with an illicit cargo

GAD 281 is this simple traditional Granny Square made with Baby Blue & Baby Green

Sorry about the poor photo!
It's a little of centre

GAD 280 & Bavarian Crochet!

This is Granny a Day 280

And this is Bavarian Crochet!

One of my pupils lent me a book called

Learn to do Bavarian Crochet
So I borrowed it and in my spare time on my day off today, during Puppy Sitting Duties

I gave it a go
I like the texture that it creates as you use a lot of Back Post Double Trebles, which give this very simple pattern a nice raised effect.

When I looked online, Bavarian Crochet is also referred to as
WOOL EATER CROCHET
and boy does it use a lot of wool up

Granny A Day 279 & Crochet Lesson

This is GAD 279, which I made whilst
(a) Puppy was asleep &
(b) in between making millions of cups of tea for lots of builders that were in and out of my house today, so I am pleased that I managed to complete it in one sitting!

This afternoon I had CF here for a 2 hour crochet class.

She is one of the ladies that came to Crochet Days in Dorset last week and she said that she had a totally enjoyable time

Aren't her squares fantastic?
She also told me that her cross stitch has fallen to the wayside as Crochet has taken over her spare time

YAY

GAD 278

I took advantage of the Puppy being asleep today, to make  GAD 278

I found a pre made centre of the white and the baby green, which is a bit of a cheat, but in the circumstances of recent events puppy wise, has come in handy.

I might try, as in time wise rather than ability, to crochet Scrumpy a little coat......

....now where did I put that dog coat pattern?

Wednesday, 3 October 2012

Gad 277 is a miracle

Yes GAD 277
IS
a miracle

Why?

Because I never thought that I would start it, let alone finish it with Puppy around!

LOL

He is into everything as you can probably imagine

I had to wait until he went to sleep for a little puppy nap, before I could even dream of getting my hook and wool out tonight.

GAD 275 & 276

I must apologise for not blogging yesterday

I do have a very good reason for this

and

this is because.....

of

Truly Scrumptious or Scrumpy

He is 8 weeks old and we got him from Dorset Dog Rescue
He's a Pointer X but with what we don't know!

Truly Scrumptious or what??

So for Monday 1st October 2012 - GAD 275 is......

And for Today's GAD 276 is.....

Ok, so I cheated on this one a little as I already had the centre made from a session in a recent crochet class, but I do have a puppy to entertain!
