A week of Hooky Peace(Sort of) - Week 17

A week of Hooky Peace - well sort of!!

You see, April had 5 weeks in it and my workshops ran for 4 weeks, so this last week was a good week for catching up on Social Media sites, with commissions & some WIP's!

I did however take 1 private class & 1 workshop
(I just can't help myself)

JP came for her class & I was very impressed to see her lessons ....

 ...and homework

All filed....

....and looking FAB

A constant reminder of her progress AND improvement!

In only a few lessons as she has progressed so well & is already making a toy!

It just goes to show you how much more improvement is made with private / One2One lessons

I also took a new Beginners Class in Shaftesbury at Sparrow UK on Friday morning

They all did terribly well

Learning the basic stitches of double crochet & half trebles

and they have lots of homework to do too!!

The reduced teaching hours for me this week meant that I had time to work on a few commissions & also to get on with my stripey blanket which was inspired by one that a pupil has made after looking at "littlewoollie's" blog online

I haven't followed the on online at all as this is a great way of trying out new stitches that one has been wanting to try out for ages..

Like Larksfoot stitch & some bobble's too!

More photo's of my progress will follow on here

As will progress of my Triangles Blanket....

Today is Day 124 & here is my progress so far

I am still ahead of the game with 131 triangles so far!

Here is one of the photo's that I posted on Instagram this week

If you want to see more - lots more as I am rather hooked on Instagram at the moment, then do pop over to see me here

That's all folks - it's the bank holiday weekend & I have promised myself NOT to use the computer at the weekend, so I have been a bit naughty by doing this today but I ran out of time on Friday

Such Talent! Crochet in Dorset Week 16

I can't tell you how lucky I am as a Crochet Teacher

to come across such talent in one County - Dorset!

Just look at the finish on this baby cardigan - toggle buttons & a fab colour mix!

Another pupil saw a pot cover I made last week (you can just see it top left of the photo) & she went away & made this...

After a lesson in Flower making last week - AR brought her own in this week, complete with a cover pot too

I love them!

And PG worked really hard at pattern reading & made these lovely flowers
I love the pansy

We talked "drape" over the last couple of lessons & V brought in her finished scarf & the start of a shawl

The next few photo's are taken in my Crochet Classroom at home....

Another lesson in following patterns

Which seems to be the "hook" in the side of many crochet -ers

It's a matter of reading what's there in front of you and reading it again and possibly again before it goes "bing"

And it worked as here we have 2 covered stones, ready for al fresco dining this Summer

I did a similar project at my Shaftesbury lessons, but this time with Jam Pot Covers

They were not allowed to compare notes or cheat!! It was very "exam like" for some moments as they all concentrated on the task in hand and the room went quiet!

And as you can see, progress was made and end result

And here are the Sparrow UK "hookers" with their subscription forms ready to be completed and sent to Inside Crochet Magazine.

In the latest issue, which is in the shops (Issue 53) not only has one of my patterns....

but also my "interview" which DMC creative world said....
@CrochetAli It was lovely reading your "final thought" @InsideCrochet Thank you also for using our #DMCpetra for the #crochet food cover!

Do you think someone is "hooked" on Granny Squares with her collection of books?

Possibly!

These Crochet Queen charms are selling well (see my "Crochet Shop" tab above)

Bavarian Crochet - I have a workshop on Saturday the 31st May from 10.30 am to 4.30pm

Cost £45 for the day - do get in touch if you are interested in learning this fantastic Crochet Technique

Pop over to

For the latest news on Triangle a Day Blanket

And finally, one of the Shaftesbury ladies gave me this lovely Aquilegia.

I shall plant it in my courtyard garden & remember her & her wonderful crochet work every time I see it!

Crochet in Dorset with Radio Chat on You Tubers! Week 15

If you didn't get my latest newsletter the other day then here's the link.

To ensure that you don't miss out on future fantastically woolly news, then please do subscribe!

Did you know that I have 9, yes 9 You Tube videos to help you to learn to Crochet?

Why not try my first one - there are versions for left handers too!!

And to top it all I had a call from a lovely lady at BBC Radio 5 Live on Friday evening, asking me if I would go on the programme the following morning!! Of course I said yes & was live on the Radio to the Nation talking about my You Tube Videos!

Now for my week of Crochet Classes.....

I taught my "Improvers" class Broomstick Crochet.

Due to a lack of broomsticks in my house (they are all in repair LOL!)
I had to improvise & we used large white board markers instead!

Isn't it pretty?  There are more photo's at the end

On one of my dog walks I couldn't resist "snapping" these pretty flowers in the fields & woodland

This is AR who comes to the Shaftesbury workshops held at Sparrow UK

She made an Easter "Bonnet"

Some fantastic colours are about to be added to this already wonderful Bavarian Crochet blanket WIP

Inside Crochet Issue 53 arrived on Thursday- It's  a wonderful issue (as always) with one of my patterns in it!

One of my crochet ladies is making my Pom Hat which was in Inside Crochet Issue 45

And this is a wonderful doggy blanket

A baby cardigan was completed for homework with the addition of a lovely flower button closure!

Learning to work in the round & following a pattern

More rows have been added to this SUPERB blanket

Now just feast your eyes on this lot - lots of lovely choccy treats with our tea & coffee thanks to Sarah the owner of Sparrow UK who bakes Gluten Free especially for me.

Another Baby Cardigan with lots of lovely flowers!

Also in Issue 53 of Inside Crochet Magazine is my interview so be sure to buy a copy to read all about it!

Last but not least is Broomstick Crochet - they all loved learning this new technique!
