Square Day 23

Another "borrowed" piece of yarn!

Yes, I took about 7ft of this lovely blue from one of my intermediates yesterday in exchange for 2 stitch markers - good swap!

And here are all 23 squares so far

And here are some photo's of the stitches I am using on my Poncho

I will try to take some more detailed photos tomorrow

This afternoon I spent a very nice couple of hours at the

Knit & Crochet group which meets in Blandford

Here's the link!

They are a lovely lot and it's all hosted by the lovely crafty Tiggy who is extremely creative and patient.

It's really nice to meet up with like minded wooly heads for a chat, a piece of cake and a few stitches

Day 22 - Crochet Lessons - Poncho Update

I had a REALLY GREAT day today

It's week 2 of my Crochet Group Classes / Workshops
so I had my students back from last week, starting with the intermediates

Here's a "sampler" that one lady made to practice various stitches

The also enjoyed the biscuits on offer!

Join as You Go Granny Squares were practised for Homework

And we covered increasing and decreasing

Along side any of the problems that the intermediates needed to cover

Now for the beginners!!

Their homework was to practise either dc or tr's in rows

And to get nice straight edges

So I fortified them with cake, biscuits, tea & coffee, as the snow came down for a second time this week

I really LOVE the way these classes are working out and my pupils are all so lovely

I borrowed this yarn from one of the intermediate ladies so that I could get a new colour square for day 22

And I have also added a few more rows to my Poncho

I always have a copy of Inside Crochet available for my students to browse through

So a great Crochet Day
but I am now officially shattered!!

Day 21 & Crochet Poncho Creation

I have been lusting over this knitted poncho for some time now.  It's been on my pinterest wall for ages & I have now done something about it!

I have taken the plunge and started to make a Crochet version of it.
Here it is so far.

I have incorporated a lot of different stitches into it e.g. crossed trebles, back post trebles, back loop double crochet and all the good old classic too, to give it some texture.

I have, for a change, written the pattern down and I will give you a progress report as and when it's progressing!

And now for Day 21.

I actually managed to find a new colour!

I might not be so lucky tomorrow, although I do have a Grey & a black ball of yarn - they are colours too!!!

Day 19 & 20, PomPoms & more!

I got up early this morning to make a Pom Pom.  As you can see I used several strands at the same time to make it multi coloured - and to the right is ithe beginning of my hat, one that I was inspired to make as I saw a pupil of mine wearing a knitted version in this shape (not the colours) the other day and I rather fancied it myself!

I made up the pattern as I went along!

And here's the hat - ok so it looks a little strange like this but

It looks lovely like this

I also made a nice chunky headband for my neighbour who is 16 today

I wasn't sure about the flower (not sure if 16 year olds like them?)

So I put it on a hair clip to make it not only detachable but can wear it separately too.

Busy Sunday Morning

Here is the beginning of Square 19

And here it is in Deep Green added to the blanket

This is square 20

It's in the palest pink so you might not be able to distinguish it from the white!

And here are all 20 squares

Day 18 & snow!!!

This is me - smiling in the snow!

And this is my puppy Scrumpy who didn't like the look of it at first

But he soon came round to the idea that snow can be fun!!!

So after a walk

With his Crochet Coat under his wax jacket

We came home to the warmth & I crochet my square for day 18

Day 17 More Crochet Lessons

I don't think that this photograph does the colour of this square justice.
It really is a vibrant purple, the kind that really hits you when you look at it, but in this photo it looks more navy blue, sadly.
Anyway that being said and done, it's still square 17 and it's still a "new" colour!

Now for more news:

I took 2 Crochet Workshops today.

This morning was a Beginners Group Class.  4 Ladies were books in, all of whom I had spoken to on the phone and all of whom were sent booking forms, however I knew that they wouldn't have time to return them by today with payment, so I had to rely on them turning up on the day.

Unfortunately 2 Ladies - sisters, who were due to come together, didn't!
So myself & the 2 ladies who did arrive, gave them until 10 minutes passed the hour and then  got started.  With all the chatting going on, we only managed to cover Foundation Chains and Double Crochet and they were more than happy with this and went away with some homework so that they can practice before next weeks lesson, which I am already looking forward to taking.

This afternoon was spent with one of my "intermediate" ladies who drive up from Poole.  We spent a fantastic 2 hours translating German Crochet Patterns and symbols charts, so that she can make a few items for her grand daughter.  It was a great 2 hours & I learnt that German Symbols patterns vary every so slightly from UK ones!

Day 16 !

I went to Blandford today.  I didn't plan on going into the "Bargain Store" but my husband wanted to get something from there, so I simply HAD to go with him, especially as I know that they stock this colourful range of acrylic yarns!

I was very good, I only bought 3 balls!!

And here is Day 16's square in one of my new colours
