SturQuest Community Coffee Morning, GAD 318 & 319

I was invited to attend the SturQuest Community Coffee Morning which took place today, so I jumped at the chance!

I was there from 9am to set up and left at around 1pm.

Here's my little table, all set up

I spoke to loads of  people interested in either taking up Crochet for the first time or wanting to revive what they had learnt many years ago!!

Now for Granny A Day 318 which was yesterdays' GAD that I have now caught up with

And GAD 319 for today

PHEW!

It's all Crochet going on here you know

Gad 317

This is GAD 317 for Monday 12th November 2012

GAD 318 is in my mind but I have yet to make it as I am so busy preparing for 2 events.

One is the Craft Coffee Morning http://www.stur.org.uk/item/sturquest-coffee-morning.html which is tomorrow and where I will be demonstrating my crochet skills and giving out leaflets (hopefully) to promote my crochet lessons.

So in the meantime I have been completing my cushions

of which there will be 2, one with a green base and one with a yellow one (currently a WIP)

and finishing off several neck scarves that I just need to darn the ends in so that they can be available to sell at the Village Craft Fair on Saturday.

So GAD 318 will have to wait until tomorrow.

Gad 313 & GAD 314

I made a little sock today. I was thinking of making lots if little socks for a craft fair that's coming up in my village on the 17th. However even with my crochet speeds it takes an hour to make do with that in mind and the price of wool used I don't think I'd get £7.50 for one!

So instead I made a gad using some if the colours

And GAD 314 is made with Autumn in mind

Brown for the centre
Beige for Row 2
Cream for Row 3 &
Burnt Orange for the frame

I took a really good Crochet Lesson today.  My pupil CF, the one who likes Bavarian and Tunisian Crochet, brought in the Tunisian Crochet CD that came with the book and we sat there an followed some instructions via the CD which was really good fun.

Sorry no photo's of the class today

GAD 312

After a VERY busy day,
including:

  • potentially securing a group class fixture in a local town for 2013
  • sorting through all my Crochet Stock available for sale
  • re labelling all my Crochet Stock for sale (as I have changed address)
  • ordering a "banner" for Craft Table use
  • finishing off 2 of 7 scarves (darning in the ends) that I inherited from an elderly neighbour
I managed to find time to make GAD 312

Granny A Day 311 , My opinion and Crochet Edging with a difference

A very lovely and clever lady in America, sent me her invention to try out

which is

It's similar to a fine crochet hook e.g. a 2mm or smaller, but it has a tiny sharp point right on the very end so that you can pierce fabric or even card, easily and without the need to pre hole punch.

If you would like to get one too then go to ...

and this is what it does.....

it make pretty edgings along the edge of clothing, blankets, towelling, handkerchiefs etc.
The possibilities are endless!

These are the patterns that I tried

Quick & Easy

In the Loop

This is a close up picture of Quick & Easy

This is Quick & Easy - variation

And my final practice was Zig Zag

There are loads more to try out.
I will be more that tempted to find a T Shirt that I want to adorn with an edging tomorrow.

If you are an avid crocheter this is a MUST HAVE for your crochet kit.

Now for GAD 311.
As I am on holiday from work this week (that's my part time job - the one that pays a few bills, not my Crochet Teaching one that pays for my wool addiction) I took a trip into the local Market Town of Blandford Forum today, and I found a little "bargain" shop that was selling DK yarn for £1.50 a ball.

How is a girl to resist?

So I didn't

I bought a soft cream, a lovely green, a warming terracotta & a vibrant yellow

As usual, once I got home my husband said "why do you need more wool?"

Well I don't but I don't have these colours in my yarn stash at the moment and I might even go back for some more in pinks and blues at those prices - just don't tell my husband!

In my opinion it's better and cheaper than having an expensive shoe (designer kind) addiction - don't you agree?  Plus this keeps you busy for hours, you can make great gifts and things for your house or for sale and it doesn't hurt your feet or give you bunions, so buying wool in my opinion is an all round WINNER!

GAD 310, Dog Coat in Action & Ripples Blanket

This is the moment you have all been waiting for!

Yes it's Scrumpy sporting his new cosy warm walking coat

As you can see it's a lovely snug fit, as it was made to measure, with several fittings taking place during it's creation.

Just call it the Doggy Saville Row of Dog Coats!

This is Scrumpy letting me crochet whilst he sleeps

As you can see I have picked up my WIP Ripples blanket again as it's an easy pattern to follow when you have a puppy on your lap!

And finally.....
