Day # 80 and more (including homework!!)

I started making this bag yesterday.  It's another pattern that I bought from www.crochet.spot.com with the dog bone pattern that I blogged about yesterday

Well I managed to finish it today

And I am very pleased with the outcome.  Can you see that it has 2 buttons?  One on the top by the handles and one at the bottom (on the red square)

Why??

Because you can fold it up and pop it in a larger bag like a hand bag , and take it with you just in case you pick up more shopping than you expected and that happens quite often!

I took a crochet lesson today and my pupil wants to make a cardigan, so together, in 4ply 100% cotton, we made the motifs together.
She convinced me that I should do the project with her and once I had given her her homework of making the 12 motifs needed as the first phrase of the project, I soon realised that I have the same homework to do too!!

LOL

On top of that I made my GAD # 80

A white center, a cream frame to that, finished off by a chocolate brown edging.

Granny A Day # 79 and Give a Dog a Bone!

One of my first emails this morning alerted me to the fact that Rachel over at www.crochetspot.com had posted a new pattern, and this pattern was for a Crochet Dog Bone.

How could I resist??

So I bought the pattern and got to work.....

And the recipient was very happy with his gift

Quite protective over it

and liked the smell of it

And even start to show it off!!
Ahhhhhh

I did buy another pattern too, for a fold up bag that you can pop into your handbag and use if you buy something unexpectedly and not have a shopping bag handy.  I will post that one tomorrow.

Here is No. 79!!

This really used up some good odds and ends of wool / yarn so I was more than pleased with the outcome of this one!

Granny a Day # 78 and more WIP

Granny a day #78 is a combination of soft lime green, a sky blue, vivid pink and a final frame of the soft green.  Unfortunately the photo does NOT do the colours justice as it really does look quite wonderful in "real" life

Now for my WIP which I haven't picked up for a few days.
I thought that I would try to en capture the complexity of the delicateness of the "operation" on camera

As you can see from the picture above, the joining of the motifs is really a labour of love.
I am using a very fine hook - I think it's 1.5mm
I have included a regular sized pencil in the picture to give you an idea of the scale I am working with.

So after all that information, today I managed to join a few more motifs to the already accomplished work of art, and I am pleased with progress so far.

Here you are looking at the front of the top with the neckline quite apparent.
(I hope)

Until tomorrow, take care and keep crocheting!

Granny A Day # 75, # 76 & # 77!

GAD # 75

GAD # 76

GAD # 77

Sorry folks, I apologise for not being around and blogging for the last 3 days.
I have been house hunting and even though I  would have liked to have taken my Hook & Yarn with me, to be honest I would have been too exhausted to crochet at the end of each day.

To be honest I was too exhausted to crochet once I got home tonight, but with 3 to catch up on and with a busy Sunday ahead of me, I had to bite the bullet and get on with it!
I actually found it quite relaxing and therapeutic once I got going so it's ended well.

I hope you like the squares and the random (ish) colour choices.  To be honest I did match colours a little more than I usually do, which is just normally plunging my hand in my yarn stash basket.

Well that's it from me for now.

But finally .....

Thank you to all 100 followers - yes I have finally reached that big 1-0-0

Granny A Day # 74 & the lovely Mrs C!

Yes as promised from my post on Sunday here is my lovely MIL (mother in law just incase you were sitting there frowning and scratching your head) and me, sitting crocheting together after a lovely delicious and scrumptious Sunday roast (cooked by MIL not me!!)

MIL has never crocheted before and here she is making her foundation chain.  She even went on to double crochet and then went onto my tutorial (the one on here - click on the tab above that says "Free Tutorials" if you want to learn too) once I had left and practiced some more!!

Last but not least for today is Granny A Day 74

I chose shades of Blues and Yellows for today's square.
Loving it!

Granny A Day # 73!

Wow 73 days into the year of 2012 already!
That's less than 300 days to go folks
~scarey~

So here is GAD 73

I used a Salmon Pink in the center
Maroon for row 2
Baby Pink for row 3
&
Lavender for the final row 4

I also had a crochet lesson today
My pupil LW always amazes me - she was making roses for her homework and she even charted the stitches out before putting hook to yarn and following the pattern.  She said that she found it really helped her to understand and that she followed the pattern perfectly without any mistakes.
In today's lesson we followed a Chevron or Wavy pattern in Treble Crochet.
(sorry no photo's)

Catch you again tomorrow folks

Granny A Day #72 & More WIP

Granny A Day #72 is a lovely colourful one as it was a lovely sunny and colourful day today

Now for my WIP

As you know I have completed all the motifs for the top
Now I just have to join them together

It's a very long and laborious task as
(A) there are no actual instructions on how to join them
and
(B) it's really fiddly work!

This is the pattern that you have to follow

So it'really isn't that clear as to which motif attaches to which
so I am trying to get ideas from the model in the photo
and trying to do what I think is right too!

Fingers crossed as it's hard to undo once it's all been knotted and then sewn in too.

More tomorrow!
Thanks for stopping by
